Aneros' heritage as a leader in sexual health and wellness began in the 1990s, decades before the term sexual health and wellness became popular. Originating as High Island Health, the company patented and commercialised the world's first self-powered, hands-free prostate massager, an acupressure device for treating symptoms of prostatitis and BPH. Initial sales were strong, but an even bigger response was on the horizon. Within a few years, user feedback unexpectedly showed that these devices were also powerful prostate stimulators with enormous potential to produce pleasure. With the accumulation of reports of men having stronger orgasms, the decision was made to form a sister company, Aneros, rebranding the HIH devices and marketing them as health and pleasure products.
